Create Decent Paying Jobs for South Carolina

Get funding for Interstate 73 approved and the project moving in 2010/2012.

Increase Federal funding of infrastructure projects in the 1st Congressional District, such as light rail connecting Myrtle Beach, the coast, and Charleston.

Create "Green Energy" jobs such as: wind, tidal, wave, hydrogen, Bio-Diesel/Ethanol, and solar.

Help open the federal contracting system to small businesses.

Small business owners need greater access to capital to expand or pursue business ventures.

Ensure the small business loan programs like the 7(a) Loan and Microloan Loan Program are safe from budget cuts.

The Economy

We need to keep jobs in America and not send them overseas.

I am against most favored nation treatment of China and admission to the WTO.

I believe in Fair Trade, not Free Trade.

I believe we should institute policy to curb illegal imports, open foreign markets, and make the Federal and State Governments “Buy American.”

I believe taxpayer dollars shouldn’t assist corporations that move jobs and their operations out of the United States.

We need to provide tax breaks for the people who need them the most -- middle-class and working-class families.

Help technical colleges to provide training opportunities in the skilled trades.

Work with the private sector to help provide  job training and re-training.
