Congressional Candidate Robert Dobbs Responds to the Attack by Israel Upon Gaza Aid Flotilla
Georgetown, SC – Congressional Candidate Robert Dobbs responds to the attack by Israel upon the Gaza Aid flotilla.
Robert Dobbs stated, “Today is a sad day for the world. Israel once again has shown its contempt for the rule of law and how it views humanity. The actions by Israel were unjustified, criminal, and demonstrated its continued use of violence not only against the Palestinian people but against the free people of the world. What is worse is the weak response by President Barack Obama, which only demonstrates the stranglehold the pro-Israeli lobby has upon his Presidency. The President should have come out with a harsh rebuke of Israel for this criminal action against unarmed civilian peace activists.”
The average U.S. tax-payer will pay $19.19 each in military aid to Israel in 2010.
Fiscal Year 2011, the United Stated States will provide $2.85 billion in military aid to Israel.
It is estimated that Israel has over 200 nuclear weapons and refuses to become a part of the nuclear free Middle East.
Dobbs also stated, “Military aid to Israel has been utilized to murder innocent women and children in the Palestinian territories, it has been utilized to implement the apartheid policies towards the Palestinian people, and it has been utilized against its own citizens who dare to oppose the policies of the State of Israel. I am greatly disturbed by the actions of the President and Congress to keep the flow of weapons and money into the State of Israel, while the Israeli government continues to murder innocent people. Until Israel becomes a true nation of peace, until Israel ends its apartheid policies and stops murdering innocent people, and until Israel negotiates real peace with the Palestinians, all aid should be cut off. The actions of the President and Congress speak volumes of the control of the pro-Israeli lobby in Washington.”
Robert Dobbs, a veteran of the U.S. Army, is running for Congress in South Carolina’s First District. ###
